This is a scam. My mother in-law rec'd a similar identical letter.Most likely they will ask you to send a check for some amount like $1.000 and deposit the check they sent, which will bounce as it is either a stolen or counterfeit check.The phone number in Montreal for Mr Pierce is a a private cell phone number not the IRS.Contact your state fraud department and send it to them.
