It was a recording saying that officer Amanda Barnes from social security administration has information that my ssn has been used in fraudulent activity in the southern border of Texas and that I needed to press "1" to be connected to that officer.

When people I don't know (I have caller I'D like most people these days) keep calling me I switch them over to my FAX line and let my machine talk to their machine. Most likely it is a caller machine doing all the calling. It can also tell if your answering machine is answering your calls. I just put them on my FAX because it makes me feel good.
